When one drives a break from the past, it can and does ruffle the status quo-Ists. It changes equations. Breaks vested interests too. These individuals express their desperation and attempt to come in the way to make things unpleasant.
But if the doer views it as evidence of dislocation to the ‘self-centered’ interests, it increases the resolve to keep up the effort.
